From the Chester Lions Club I
(Jeffrey M. Mattson), current President of the District 37C Chester
Lion's Club, am writing this letter in support of the Chester Community
Pool. On behalf of the current 43 members, and those that have given of
their time in the past, we feel that this is a very crucial endeavor in
the continuance, and progression of our community.
The Chester Lion's Club has donated approximately $83,000 over the last
20 years to the existing pool. These funds have been used to cover
everything from: operating costs, pool repairs, equipment replacement,
site maintenance, to new uniforms for the Chester Lions swim team. Even
though all of this money has been spent very wisely and frugally, it has
come to everyone's attention that the community is no longer willing,
nor able, to keep pace with the compounding costs of the current
dilapidated pool. A
new Pool complex will not just be a place for teens to tan and children
to play. The number of wide-ranging benefits that a project like this
will provide for the area, are exponential. This community asset will
render a safe place to assist in the raising of our children, provide us
with the ability to continue and improve the quality of life that our
elderly and/or disabled population so greatly deserves, and better equip
ourselves to achieve the economic stability that all rural Montana towns
strive for.
Our community takes pride in the fact that we are a safe, tight-knit,
caring, area that has been able to keep many "evils" at bay. The
building of a new Pool complex is seen by all as a necessary step in
sustaining our self-imposed standards, and as a springboard to attaining
a more rounded economic base. Dist. 37C Chester Lion's Past President
