From the Liberty Emergency Services

The Emergency Service providers of Liberty County, Ambulance, Fire and Rescue Departments, strongly support the need for water safety training in our area.

In Liberty County, we have a large lake, a river and numerous reservoirs that attract motor boating, sail boating, canoeing, rafting, fishing (open water and ice fishing), water skiing and swimming activities. It is extremely valuable for the youth and adults of our community to receive water safety training in the form of like guard/water rescue training, CPR, swimming lessons, and respect for the dangers of flowing water, deep water and cold water.

Without access to a swimming pool for this instruction and training, we fear that we will see a greatly increase number of drownings in our area.

Yvonne Hunnewell,
EMS Director Liberty County
