From the Liberty County Supt. Of Schools

I am writing this letter in support of the grant application of the Hi-Line Pool and Recreation foundation for funding of the engineering portion of the New Pool to be located in the Town of Chester.

As an educator, I am seeing a need for this New Pool to be located in the town of Chester. It would serve as an addition to the physical education program at Chester Public Schools as well as other surrounding schools. As we look at the statistics of our youth becoming heavier due to the inactivity and choice of nourishment, swimming is an excellent exercise to keep fit, and would meet many academic accreditation standards.

As a mother, I see a tremendous number of students being taught water safety, each summer by highly trained individuals. This is imperative to our area as we are located close to a lake that has seen many water safety related accidents.

As a former member of the Chester Lion's Swim Team I have seen the benefits of this summer program as a way to keep fit and keep kids active. Small towns don't always have a lot to offer it's youth.

Please consider the application presented to you by the Hi-Line Pool and Recreation foundation for funding in your current grant awarding cycle. The dilapidated pool that exists in the town currently is not going to hold out much longer at 50 plus years old.

Sincerely,
Rachel C. Ghekiere
